OPSHBX NJ needs volunteers to assemble care packages July 27th

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset Patriots will host a packing event with Operation Shoebox New Jersey to assemble personal care packages that will be shipped to members of the US military deployed overseas on Saturday, July 27th.

Volunteers are needed to help pack and assemble the care packages. There are no age restrictions. the packing will take place on the concourse of TD Bank Ballpark to take advantage of the shade.

Volunteers will work in an assembly line selecting items that will be placed in one-gallon plastic bags. Each box contains a variety of personal care and food/snack items including soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, noist wipes, ear swabs, mouth wash, razors, socks, powder, deodorant and other items. Food and snack items include dry cereal, cookies, candy, snacks, beef jerky, oatmeal, hot chocolate, soup, gum and other items.

The packing will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 1,000 boxes are packed.
OPSHBX NJ will host a display of photos, letters and postcards that have been received from troops overseas, as well as a retail display of shirts, pins, pens, tote bags and other items. All proceeds from the sale of these items, as well as all donations, will be used to help pay the cost of postage to send the care packages overseas.
