Dear Supporter of Operation Shoebox New Jersey:
Please join us Saturday, May 4 from 6-11 p.m. at a wine reception, dinner and live auction to celebrate the 14th anniversary of Operation Shoebox New Jersey at “Room with a View,” 2301 South Branch Road, Neshanic Station, an elegant setting in the midst of Somerset County’s Neshanic Valley Golf Course. Hors’d’oeuvres and a sumptuous sit down dinner will be prepared and served by Landmark Hospitality, whose properties in New Jersey include the legendary Ryland Inn, Prallsville Mill and other destinations.
Auctioneer Joe Bodnar will be on hand once again to help OPSHBX NJ sell gift baskets and other items including sports memorabilia, consumer electronics, books & gift cards, as well as artwork by noted sports artist James Fiorentino. Former Yankees pitcher and 1977 Cy Young winner Sparky Lyle, now manager emeritus of the Somerset Patriots, will be on hand to autograph baseballs and toss them out to the seated guests.
All guests will receive a paddle for bidding during the auction and a bottle of “Bravo & Nobile 2017,” a limited edition red wine blended with Cabernet and Cabernet Franc grapes harvested in California, handcrafted and bottled by OPSHBX NJ volunteers at Grape Expectations in Bridgewater. This annual event is the major fundraiser for OPSHBX NJ, a volunteer, non-profit organization that has shipped more than 156,000 personal care packages to US troops deployed around the world.
Individual admission is $100; couples, $200.
