March 3, 2007 Supporters, My name is Everette Bryant. My unit and I received many packages from you. I am a corporal in the United States Marine Corps. Everything that you sent us has or will be put to good use. Thank you very much for your generosity. The biggest talk amongst my Marines was the Girl Scout cookies. They didn't last long after the boxes were opened. Please thank all of your friends and families and anyone else who donated. I'll address a couple of the many questions that were asked. I was asked if we're winning the war. The war over here is going well, but there is never a winner in war. If something can't be resolved without talking and people must fight, everyone loses. Unfortunately it is going to take a long time before it is safe in Iraq. We are currently trying to set up a police force strong enough to maintain control within Iraq. The thing that our military needs the most from you is your continued support. The last thing we need to do is pull out of this country before the job is finished. We can not do our job unless you as the people of the United States support us. Someone asked if it was really as bad as the news say it is over here. It is not as bad over here as you may think it is. The news only reports the bad things, because that gains more attention from viewers. Every day we have engineers building new schools in neighborhoods that have never had schools; installing electricity into homes that have never had power; there are children playing in newly built parks, that were once too dangerous to play in. You wanted to know if I like being in the military. I love being in the military, I am in the Marines which many people say the Marines are the best, but the truth is, no branch is better than the other. Every branch does its part in matter that are going on world wide.
